President Biden signed the historic $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill on November 15, 2021, with our Link sister Vice President Kamala Harris at his side. After months of negotiations, Congress passed the bill on November 5, 2021, with 13 Republicans crossing party lines to vote with the majority of Democrats. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill is the largest infrastructure bill signed into law in United States history.
California will receive substantial dollars for infrastructure which will result in an increase in the number of jobs within the state. Specifically, monies are allotted for the following:
$25.3B - roads
$4.2B - bridges
$1.5B - airports
$3.5B - power grid (i.e., fire prevention; additional firefighters; "weatherization" of homes)
$3.5B - clean water (i.e., drought prevention)
$9.4B - public transit (i.e., union station upgrade; metro purple line through West LA)
The bill includes $100m for internet infrastructure upgrades and $384m for electric charging stations.
